Northeastern News - 10/18/06 [read it]

Northeastern University’s publication Northeastern News was kind enough to interview me about some of the success I have found online with stand up videos and with Zebro sketch videos. They also said my name was “Elisha Taffe Riles.” I don’t know where they got the “Riles” from. The Taffe I can understand because that’s what the kids called me in elementary school (taunting me with the chant “Yaffe ate some Taffe cause he’s Yaffe Taffe!). I think Taffe Riles would be a good stage name. Perhaps I should make lemons out of lemonade?

UPDATE: The folks at the online newspaper changed my name back to Yaffe. Yay!

Fox25 Morning News - 9/14/06 [watch it]
I co-produced the 30 Years of Comedy at Emerson College event that brought back Denis Leary, Steven Wright, Tom Schillue, Eddie Brill, Andrea Martin, Bill Dana and many more to perform at the Majestic Theater in Boston. I was honored to speak on stage on behalf of a scholarship the night’s proceeds were going to.I also worked with a number of student comedians to perform at the Boston Comedy Festival as part of the weekend’s festivities. Fox25 interviewed Ani Raya-Flores, Matt James (both of Zebro) and myself. They called us “The Future of Comedy.” A bit over the top, but we’ll take it. To watch the video, click on the image below!

WERS 89.9 FM interview [listen to it]

Melina Schuler from WERS 88.9FM interviewed me a little while back for the public affairs show You Are Here. Now you can listen to it if you want to. It is a bit weird because they came and recorded me at the Comedy Studio when there were about 5 people in the audience so it kind of sounds like I am telling jokes to my family at dinner.This particular edition of You Are Here was on the topic of jobs so they asked me questions about how I am trying to “make it” in comedy. Because of that theme, my goal was to ensure that I didn’t come off like an pompous asshole. I think I did okay, but you be the judge.

The Daily Camera (Boulder, CO) - 9/8/06 [read it]
The Daily Camera did a piece on The Secret Circus in September of 2006. They called us a “cult sensation.” Like Scientology, only less scary. It’s a pretty swell write up on us. Check it out if you wanna.

The Daily Hampshire Gazette (Northampton, MA) - 6/29/06 [read it]
My hometown paper wrote up an article for a show I did. The show ended up being a bust because one of my favorite bands and the reason why I was really excited about the gig (The Young Republic) had to cancel because their van broke down in New Jersey.

I believe the Boston Herald hates me. They superimposed a jester hat on my head and put it on the cover. Perhaps it was to make the comedian with liberal hippie parents look like a fool? Boston Globe - 2/7/05 [read it]

This one is from the other Boston Globe article I was in, about Emerson comedians trying out some new material and apparently trying to be like Jay Leno. I am not licking an ice cream cone and therefore this issue of the Globe sold very few papers.Notice I am wearing the same sweater/collar shirt combo as I was in the previous article. It is actually the only shirt combo the Globe will go to print with.
